NEW TESTAMENT READING Revelation 7:9-12 (CEB)
9 After this I looked, and there was a great crowd that no one could number. They were from every nation, tribe, people, and language. They were standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They wore white robes and held palm branches in their hands. 10 They cried out with a loud voice: “Victory belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.” 11 All the angels stood in a circle around the throne, and around the elders and the four living creatures. They fell face down before the throne and worshiped God, 12 saying, “Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God forever and always. Amen.”
OLD TESTAMENT READING Psalm 23 (bower translation)
The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.
God makes me lie down in green meadows
and restores my soul,
leading me beside calm waters.
I am led along right paths for
the sake of God’s name.
Even though I walk through
the valley of death,
I will not fear adversity or wickedness,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff are my comfort.
You prepare a table before me
in the presence of adversity;
you anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and mercy
shall pursue me all my living days,
and forever I shall dwell in the Lord’s house.
