First and foremost, we would like to thank each of you for your generous contributions and support to St. Paul’s of Monee Cemetery. We could not maintain our beautiful grounds without your continued support.
2016 Cemetery Board election resulted in Carl Lowe as President, Christi Holston as Secretary and Judie Popp as Treasurer. Darren Deutsche, Gary Ramirez and Rachel White agreed to remain involved as advisors.
Lawn Care companies were contacted to place bids. Brian Cann was selected and employed for the 2016 mowing season. Brian and his crew did an excellent job and saved the congregation a considerable amount of money from past years. We are happy with their service.
There were six Burials this year and one new plot sale.
Cleanup days were held in May and September.
A Congregational meeting was help in August to update the congregation on the financial standing of the cemetery.
A page on the church website for cemetery news, history and a donation portal has been initiated and will be launched in 2017.
The four huge infected Ash trees in the cemetery were removed by Homer Tree Service at a cost of $5000. In February.
The first annual fund raising letter campaign to raise money for lawn care and improvements was a success. The new donation envelopes in the pews generated a small but steady revenue stream. Between the lowers lawn care costs and the donation revenue, the cemetery is in a better financial position that at the close of 2015.

Beginning balance in the savings account $28,035.06
Ending balance in the operating account $37,180.86
(Savings account was closed to explore better income generation funds)
We appreciate the support from the congregation and to all friends of St Paul’s historic cemetery, who helped make 2016 the year in which we turned around the fortunes of the cemetery and started heading in a positive direction.
Thanks again for helping us keep St. Paul’s Cemetery a beautiful resting place for our loved ones.
