Pastor Peggy Johnson
Peggy Johnson is currently the full time Pastor at St. Paul’s UCC in Monee, Illinois. Her work at St. Paul’s began in November of 2005. Prior to St. Paul’s she served at First Congregational UCC in Lockport as a Co-interim Pastor and before that she completed her internship at First Congregational UCC in Glen Ellyn.
Northern Baptist Seminary in Lombard is where Peggy completed her Masters of Divinity on November 30, 2004. Peggy was Ordained on April 17, 2005 at Downers Grove First Congregational Church in the Fox Valley Association of the Illinois Conference. She worked part time as a chaplain at Good Samaritan Hospital and served as a chaplain for the Downers Grove Police Department for three years while she attended seminary.
Peggy worked selling medical life support equipment and information systems to hospitals for several years before beginning seminary in 2001.
Peggy currently lives with her husband, Mike in the parsonage next door to St. Paul’s church. They own a home in Sawyer, Michigan, where they can walk to the Warren Dunes State Park and the Tower Hill UCC Camp. They have two wonderful adult children and three delightful granddaughters. For fun, Peggy loves to read, golf, and work in the garden.
Music Director and Organist
Ellen Herrmann has been the organist at St. Paul’s for over fifty years. She began playing the organ for the church when she was only 14 years old. Her first church service was for the wedding of her sister in law. In addition to serving as the organist, Ellen serves as music director and directs the adult choir.
Ellen recently retired from her full time work as the Reference Librarian at the Crete Library. She still works at the Crete Library part time.
Ellen received her Bachelors of Music Education at Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, Illinois and her Masters of Library and Information Sciences from Dominican University in River Forest, Illinois.
Ellen and her husband Paul live in Crete, Illinois. Ellen and Paul have three adult sons, four grand children and one great grand child.
